Hunger Action Veggies
Through June 24 || Theater J || Trayf
Zalmy lives a double life: by day, he’s the rebbe’s loyal foot soldier, driving a tricked-out “Mitzvah Tank” through NYC with his best friend Shmuel. By night, he sneaks away from his Orthodox community to roller-skate, dance in discos, and listen to rock and roll. But when he befriends a zealous young man eager to be his student, the barrier between Zalmy’s two worlds starts to crack.

Join us at the EDCJCC to mix, chop, and prepare food for homeless shelters and other agencies serving those in need in the DC area. No cooking skills are necessary! Individuals of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to participate.

June 10 || Music || Klezmer Brunch
Our Klezmer Brunch pairs fantastic music with a delicious kosher buffet. Seth Kibel and Friends have been combining traditional Eastern European/Jewish music with diverse influences for more than a decade.

June 12 || Film || The Invisibles
Encore screening! In June 1943, Germany infamously declared Berlin “judenfrei”—“free of Jews.” But at that moment there were still 7,000 Jews living in the Nazi capital: hiding in attics, basements, and warehouses. The Invisibles tells the stories of four survivors, interweaving their testimony with highly accomplished dramatizations.
