This symposium will include experts such as a fertility doctor, an adoption expert, a legal expert with experience facilitating egg donor and gestational carrier agreements, a representative from the foster care system, and more! LGBTQ and straight, couples and single parents, Jewish and non-Jewish - are all warmly welcomed.

May 16 || Community || JScreen Pop-Up: Take Action. Take Control. Get Screened.
JScreen, a non-profit dedicated to preventing Jewish genetic diseases, will be “setting up shop” at the EDCJCC. JScreen’s panel tests for over 200 diseases, is easy, confidential, affordable (just $131 with insurance!), takes 10 minutes, and is done via saliva sample.

May 16 || Social Justice || Be the Change: An Activism Workshop
In an ever-changing world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by both local and global issues. This training will break down the basics of activism, giving you the tools to make meaningful change. This event is in partnership with Sixth & I.

May 22 || GLOE || Hineni: Envisioning a Better Jewish Future Together
Together, we will explore how we can lead the Jewish people to reconnect with this essential and powerful truth of being human, and being Jewish. This is the fourth session of Hineni, a new seminar led by Adas Israel Congregation's Rabbi Gil Steinlauf, examining what it means to be both Jewish and LGBTQ today.

Join us for our monthly night out at Bowlmor in Bethesda– work on your bowling skills and enjoy a snack with friends. Individuals are welcome to bring a friend who will provide support during the program if needed. Suitable for ages 16 and up.

Zalmy lives a double life: by day, he’s the rebbe’s loyal foot soldier, driving a tricked-out “Mitzvah Tank” through NYC with his best friend Shmuel. By night, he sneaks away from his Orthodox community to roller-skate, dance in discos, and listen to rock and roll. But when he befriends a zealous young man eager to be his student, the barrier between Zalmy’s two worlds starts to crack.
June 3 || Family Engagement || Beans, Basil, and Bees: A Family Gardening Workshop
Want to learn about starting your very own container garden, dig in the dirt and learn about composting, and meet some urban beekeepers who are helping our city retain its native bee populations? Join us for this family-focused event with workshops run by Love and Carrots, Compost Cab, and Capitol Bee Care.

May 29 || Theater J || Yiddish Shorts: An Evening of One-Act Plays from the Yiddish Theater
Join us as directors and playwrights uncover and re-interpret nearly-forgotten Yiddish classics in new English language readings, workshops, commissions, and eventually productions. Free and open to the public, reservations are required.

Hang out with the 30's crowd for happy hour and a production of Theater J's Trayf, a Jewish Plays Project Top 10 Finalist and meet-and-greet with Theater J's artistic director, Adam Immerwahr.

Come explore the rich fabric of Judaism! Using traditional texts and modern examples, we will cover the fundamentals of Jewish life, including Shabbat and holidays, prayer, lifecycle rituals, ethics, and beliefs.

June 7
|| Volunteer || Hunger Action
Join us at the EDCJCC to mix, chop, and prepare food for homeless shelters and other agencies serving those in need in the DC area. No cooking skills are necessary! Individuals of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to participate.
