MLK Day of Service 2014 IS FULL!
Please email Elena at elenaf@washingtondcjcc.org if you'd like to be added to the wait list.

We are making MLK Day a day on, not a day off – and we hope you will join us! Celebrate MLK Day with us at the New York Avenue Men's Emergency Homeless Shelter. Let's have fun and improve the lifes of these men.

Join Behrend Builders for this MLK Day of Service project to honor the legacy of service and social justice of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Volunteers of all backgrounds will unite to paint, construct and clean the shelter.

Sign up as one or as many with your peers, coworkers, friends or family. Our MLK Day of Service is a great way to meet new people and to learn a little more about our DC community. You'll get more details on location once you register.

*Due to the limited amount of space, we are not partnering with groups of 15+ volunteers.

We have four different projects you can help with...

1. Painting: Join us to paint a stairwell and walls. (14 years old or older)

2. Donation Room Construction: Help us build a sorting table and shelves. (14 years old or older)

3. Cleaning: Help brighten up the main rooms of the shelter.

4. Sorting: There are many donations already in the room that need to be sorted, so let's help them.

No experience necessary and all materials will be supplied. Volunteers for painting or construction must be a minimum of 14 years old. Please note in registration if you do have painting or construction experience.

IMPORTANT NOTE: New York Avenue Shelter is bus accessible but not metro accessible.

We're sorry, the deadline for buying tickets for this event has passed.
