WJFF Year-Round: It All Begins At Sea
Washington DCJCC

WJFF Year-Round and the Leo & Anna Smilow Center for Jewish Life and Learning present a special film program as part of “Re-Souling for the New Year"

Tuesday, September 13, 7:30 pm

"None of us are born parents. Our children teach us how to be parents.”  Eitan Green, director

The Goldstein family - mother, father and son – is a typical Israeli family coping with life’s experiences beyond groceries and bills-friendship, love, sex, death.  But fate plays tricks on the Goldsteins. Sometimes the tricks are amusing, often menacing.

The award-winning film is comprised of three episodes.  The first occurs as the family spends time at the seashore, while the second unfolds in Ashkelon National Park among the ancient statues and ruins. The third episode takes us to the family's new home where they anticipate the birth of a new baby.  Each of these situations becomes fraught with danger and drama. In the end, the Goldsteins realize they cannot rely on fate, only each other as their family ties strengthen and deepen. Israel, 2008, 96 minutes, 35 mm, Hebrew with English, English subtitles.  Director:  Eitan Green
