Clare Burson: Silver and Ash

Thursday, June 23
| 7:30 pm | Aaron & Cecile Goldman Theater

Clare BursonIndie songstress Clare Burson’s newest project—the album and performance piece Silver and Ash—imagines her maternal grandmother’s life in Germany from her birth in 1919 to her escape in 1938.

This stunning work, featured in The New York Times and on NPR, inhabits and gives life to her grandmother’s story and explores Clare’s own struggles with rupture, silence, guilt, empathy
and continuity.

“[Clare's] music is fantastic. Her style is real folkie, but her background is decidedly indie. She somehow manages in [SILVER AND ASH] to put in equal parts emotion and hook. It’s quite astounding.”
