Are you pregnant for the first time? Looking to create a community with other expecting moms to exchange ideas and find support?

Along with the excitement and joyful anticipation of parenthood, women experience a range of emotions and questions about their pregnancy.  Although these feelings are quite common, many women may feel isolated as they experience them. This group will meet weekly at the EDCJCC for six weeks to provide a safe space for moms-to-be to discuss their experiences and learn from one another.  The group will be kept small so that connections can be fostered and maintained even after the session concludes. 

 We will explore several topics, including:

• Concerns about childbirth and parenting
• Balancing family with work outside the home
• Navigating a new relationship with your partner
• Managing relationships with your own parents and in-laws
• Concerns about finances
• How to recognize post (and pre)-partum depression and anxiety

*with an option to pivot to Zoom on a week-by-week basis if the group has health concerns.

About the Facilitator:
Dr. Catherine Coogan earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the George Washington University. She works with clients in private practice in Washington, DC and Virginia.
