MLK and Tu B'Shvat Day of Service: Families Serving Together 2022
|
Celebrate MLK Day and Tu B'Shvat with the Rock Creek Conservancy What: This year, MLK Day of Service and Learning coincides with the Jewish holiday of Tu B’Shvat, or the “new year of the trees”. This holiday, established by the rabbis in ancient times, is celebrated by eating special fruits, planting and honoring trees, and in recent decades, with environmental activism and learning. We will be partnering with the Rock Creek Conservancy to do a trash clean-up in Rock Creek Park. Join other families to learn about the challenges facing Rock Creek Park, and what we can do to protect it. We will provide trash bags, gloves, and directions on trash pick-up - you just have to come ready to work! We will also spend a little bit of time learning about the holiday of Tu B'shvat. Who: This event is for families with young children. If you are an adult looking to volunteer on MLK Day, please sign up for our other MLK Day cleanup. When: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM Where: Carter Barron section of Rock Creek Park. Exact meeting location will be provided upon registration. Registration: Registration for this project is free but required. Please register for each individual member of your family so we have an accurate head count. Click on the Sign Me Up! button to proceed to registration. Questions?
