EBTT 2020 - Sunday food packaging IN PERSON
Edlavitch DCJCC Parking Lot

Everything But The Turkey 2020

Food packaging for DC Central Kitchen - IN PERSON

Why: Food insecurity has risen exponentially due to the pandemic. As every year, we are proud to support our partner, DC Central Kitchen, in providing food assistance to individuals and families in the DC metro area.

What: Help us package hundreds of bags of dry goods for clients at DC Central Kitchen. This activity will take place in the EDCJCC parking lot. All CDC guidelines will be observed.

When: Sunday, November 22, 2020.
Three shifts are available - 10:00-10:45 AM, 11:15-12:00 PM, and 12:30-1:15 PM.
We respectfully request that you only sign up for one shift in order to allow more folks to participate in this activity.

Please note that the rain date for this activity is Sunday, December 6, 2020.

Registration:

  • Please register for each individual in your party.
  • Tables can hold up to 6 people.
  • Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Children over the age of 2 require an individual ticket.
  • Please note that we request a tax-deductible donation of $20 per person to cover the costs of this program in order to ensure that we are able to purchase high-quality ingredients. Please contact Sonya if this poses a barrier to participation.
  • Space is very limited as we can only accommodate 30 people during each shift to maintain social distancing guidelines.
  • Click the "Sign Me Up!" button or the ticket icon to the right to continue to registration.

Safety measures we are taking:

  • We are limiting the number of participates to 30 plus staff members for each shift.
  • Everyone must wear a mask at all times.
  • Everyone, including staff, will have their temperature taken that morning.
  • All tables will be spaced 6 feet apart, and social distancing will be maintained as strictly as possible.
  • All participants will also be asked to sign a community health pledge in advance, which can be found here.
  • Please note that if you have health concerns you may wish to choose one of the many other ways to participate in EBTT this year, which do not involve in-person interaction.
  • Please note that if you will be traveling to a state that is on DC's quarantine list less than two weeks prior to November 22, you must self-quarantine for two weeks and therefore unfortunately cannot participate in our in-person event in accordance with the Mayor's orders.

Take the Advocacy Pledge: Along with coming out to volunteer in person during this year's EBTT we hope you'll "take the advocacy pledge" to end food insecurity around the US with our partners at MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger. If you sign up to take the pledge, you will receive a packet with an interactive "placemat" activity (appropriate for both children and adults) that will teach you more about the root causes of food insecurity as well as postcards to mail to elected officials that encourage them to take legislative action to end this injustice. It's completely free to participate!
