Please check out some of the other wonderful D25 projects that will be helping our community on December 25th!
GLOE @ D25 Day of Service
Healthcare Kits for the Community
Join GLOE, which connects GLBT Jews (and our friends) at the DCJCC, as we come together for D25 to serve two great local organizations that have a major impact here in the DC area.
Caring for the health of the community is deep Jewish value, and this December 25th, GLOE volunteers are teaming up to do just that with HIPS and Metro TeenAIDS! With such an astronomical rate of infection here in DC, we want to help them in their work that serves the LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS populations in our city. (Scroll down for more details on HIPS and Metro Teen AIDS.)
WHAT WE'LL BE DOING
In a fun and festive atmosphere, we'll work at the DCJCC assembling various healthcare kits that HIPS and Metro TeenAIDS will distribute to clients:
- Safer Sex Kits (to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and other STIs)
- Single Use Kits (important harm reduction tools for people who inject drugs)
- Finger Cot Kits (to limit exposure to infection)
- Wound Care Kits (to be distributed by the health outreach van)
As part of D25 at the DCJCC,
you'll be part of this one huge day: joining over 1,000 D25 volunteers
across the DC area, serving over 50 social service agencies, with
projects that will impact over 10,000 lives!
Together, we can help make DC a healthier, more caring place - all while meeting new people and connecting with other fabulous LGBTQ Jews and our friends, over wine and other refreshments!

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONS
The HIPS Mission: HIPS promotes the health, rights, and dignity of individuals and communities impacted by sexual exchange and/or drug use due to choice, coercion, or circumstance. HIPS provides compassionate harm reduction services, advocacy, and community engagement that is respectful, non-judgmental, and affirms and honors individual power and agency.
HIPS reaches an average of 100 sex workers each night on outreach and makes over 8,000 contacts every year.
Metro TeenAIDS (MTA) is a community health organization dedicated to
partnering with young people to end HIV/AIDS. During their over twenty years of
service, MTA has provided education programs and prevention resources to
well over 200,000 young people, family members, and youth workers in
the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
[NOTE: While there is no age limit, please be aware that there will be wine at this event, and the contents of the kits are adult in nature.]
If you have any questions about this project, please contact GLOE Director Halley Cohen at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for being a part of D25!
