Frequently Asked Questions

I'm interested in coming, but worried because I don't know anyone. Can you help?
Yes! Let us know in advance and we'll put you in touch with a friendly GLOE person who is attending. (Sorry, we are now too close to the party... but please come up and introduce yourself to someone with a GLOE badge, and they'll be happy to chat and introduce you to people!)

Do I have to swim?
Nope! Those who would like to swim can swim. For those who don't want to swim, there will be plenty of other diversions (including matkot - Israeli beach paddle ball; a pool table; and plenty of both indoor and outdoor spaces to sit and chat).

What should I wear?
You are welcome to wear whatever you are comfortable wearing (for swimming or just hanging out), as long as you are wearing something! The atmosphere is super-casual.

What about the food? Is it kosher?
As with all DCJCC events, the food we serve is kosher. The food is milchig/dairy, with vegan options. There will be healthy food, junk food, and lots in between.

To attend, do I have to be LGBTQ? Jewish? Religious? Non-religious?
Nope. We welcome everyone who would like to come to this social event. While many people will be LGBT Jews, there are always a great mix of people. If you are friendly and want to connect with our community, you are welcome.

How do I get there?
The party is in Northwest DC. (The exact address will be emailed upon registration.)

The easiest way is to drive.

Metro/Taxi/Bus/Walking
Some people take the Metro to Tenleytown Metro Station (Red Line), and then take a short taxi from the station. (If you prefer to continue on to the bus from the subway, please see wmata.com for more info in planning your trip. It will be about a 20-minute walk from the bus stop to the house.)

If you know others attending, please carpool!

If you need help finding a ride, please reach out on event page on Facebook.
