Join other GLOE volunteers and Behrend Builders for this hands-on service work at HIPS (Helping Individual Prostitutes
Survive)! We will be helping to fix up the space, which they wouldn't otherwise have the resources to do - building shelving, organizing program materials, and brightening up the facility with a new coat of paint!
HIPS mission is to assist female, male, and transgender individuals engaging in sex work in Washington, DC in leading healthy lives, and works to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS on the community. HIPS programs serve an estimated 2,000 sex workers a year on the streets and in their drop-in center, providing a full spectrum of programs to address basic and immediate needs, long-term goal setting and life skills development.
Meet new people or bring along a friend! All are welcome!
Need a ride? We'll drive you!
Meet at the DCJCC (at 16th & Q; entrance on Q) for a lift over to the HIPS site.
Be in the lobby at 1:30 pm.
Space is limited, so you must reserve your van spot in advance!
What should I wear?
Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty!
Note on the time:
6:00 pm is the absolute latest we'll return to the DCJCC. It is entirely possible that we'll finish before that.
