Join local congregations for a Shabbat in Song. This community-wide celebration of Shabbat and music will highlight musical services and events around Washington, DC.

Add your voices to ours at Bet Mishpachah, an egalitarian congregation embracing diversity, as we raise our voices in song at our Erev Shabbat Services in the Community Hall of the DCJCC featuring a blend of Traditional, Hasidic and Contemporary music.

Please join Congregation Beth El of Montgomery County for its lively, interactive, lay-led service Friday night Kol Haneshama Service, which blends tradition and creativity, and features the melodies of Shlomo Carlebach and contemporary Jewish artists. The service includes musical instruments during the Kabbalat Shabbat portion of the service.

DC Minyan is hosting a song-filled kabbalat shabbat, with melodies inspired by Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach and other Jewish musicians. DC Minyan is an egalitarian minyan with separate seating and uses traditional liturgy.

8.30 PM: Oneg Shabbat
Services at Shirat HaNefesh bring together folks from many backgrounds to partake in the ruah, dancing and gorgeous music. Kolot HaLev, Shirat HaNefesh's choir in residence, sings its heart out every second Friday night of the month accompanied by a band of percussion, guitar, violin and electric bass.

6:30 pm - Socializing, drinks, and appetizers
7:15 pm - Shabbat service, followed by drinks and dinner
Musical and interactive Shabbat with Jewish musician Rick Recht. The service is free. The cost for dinner is $8 in advance and $10 on the day of the service. Click here to register for dinner.

The Temple Micah Pickup Band will enhance the beauty of the Friday evening kabbalat shabbat service. The Band (flute, clarinet, violin, oboe, guitar, piano, and percussion) plays once a month on a Friday evening at Temple Micah.

8:15 pm - Potluck Dinner
Tikkun Leil Shabbat is a songful, soulful Friday night Shabbat service featuring a teaching about a social justice issue and followed by a vegetarian potluck dinner.  Services are fully egalitarian, full Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv with much singing.
