The Klezmatics with Joshua Nelson: Brother Moses Smote the Water

Monday, June 20
| 7:30 pm | Aaron & Cecile Goldman Theater
Followed by a reception

The Klezmatics with Joshua NelsonGrammy winners The Klezmatics join forces with Joshua Nelson, the African-American Jewish “prince of kosher gospel,” to explore the complexities of Jewish, black and overall human identity.

Nelson marries Jewish religious lyrics and meanings with the soulful sounds of American gospel music. This rousing performance alternates between age-old Hebrew Passover songs, Nelson’s own brand of gospel and traditional Yiddish anthems.

"History and culture, solidarity and rebellion--the Klezmatics embody all these things and throw a great dance party to boot"
