This year marks the 50th anniversary of the publication of Philip Roth’s first book, Goodbye, Columbus. We celebrate this groundbreaking contribution to the arts with an extraordinary evening of literature and theater. Excerpts from classic works such as Goodbye, Columbus, Patrimony, Portnoy’s Complaint, Everyman, and others will come to life onstage in dramatic readings by some of Washington’s finest actors. Adapted and directed by Derek Goldman, one of the region's leading directors (Sholom Aleichem: Laughter Through Tears, Eurydice, Lysistrata) and Artistic Director of the Davis Performing Arts Center at Georgetown University.

Sponsored by Tamara and Harry Handelsman.

Presented in partnership with the 16th Street J’s Theater J.

Co-sponsored by the PEN/Faulkner Foundation and American Technion Society.
