MLK Day of Service 2015

We are making MLK Day a day on, not a day off – and we hope you will join us! Celebrate MLK Day with us. Let's have fun and improve the lives of people in our community!

Join Behrend Builders for this MLK Day of Service project to honor the legacy of service and social justice of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Volunteers of all backgrounds will unite to beautify the shelter through painting and cleaning. Together we can brighten the days (and walls) of our community.

Sign up as an individual or as a small group with your peers, coworkers, friends or family. Our MLK Day of Service is a great way to meet new people and to learn a little more about our DC community. You'll get more details on the NW, DC (metro-accecible) location once you register.

This NW, DC Homeless shelter's mission is to ensure that the rights of the homeless and poor are not infringed upon, and that every person has access to life's basic essentials- food, shelter, clothing, and medical care. It is the largest shelter in DC with 1,350 beds. We will be painting and cleaning the hallways, dorms and common spaces to brighten them up for the residents.

No experience necessary and all materials will be supplied. Volunteers must be a minimum of 14 years old. Please note in registration if you do have painting or construction experience. The cost for supplies is $12/person.

We're sorry, the deadline for online sales has passed. Contact program staff listed above to purchase by phone.
