A Broken Hallelujah: Rock & Roll, Redemption, and the Life of Leonard Cohen
$12; $10 Members/Students with ID/Seniors

In his graceful examination of the life work of Leonard Cohen, Liel Leibovitz brings us a portrait of the artist—songwriter, poet, and novelist— whose work has endured through the decades. A Flavorwire Most Anticipated Book of 2014, this is not a biography, but a meditation on how Cohen’s unique and timeless voice was formed, and how it continues to affect us year after year.

Liel Leibovitz is a visiting professor of Media, Culture, & Communication at NYU’s Steinhardt School. He is a member of the advisory board of the New York chapter of the Digital Games Research Association, a founding member of the NYU Faculty Council on Games, and a member of the academic advisory board of the American Jewish Historical Society. He is the author of several books of non-fiction, most recently The Chosen Peoples: America, Israel, and the Ordeals of Divine Election, co-written with Todd Gitlin, and also a contributor to newspapers and magazines such as the Los Angeles Times, the Atlantic Monthly, Dissent, and Tablet.
