Members/Students with ID: Free

Alina and Jeff Bliumis's body of work explores cultural standards, foreignness and national identity through sculptural installations-often placed in public spaces. They were both born abroad, but have been living in the United States for over twenty years.

Their early projects were predominantly based on their own experiences of immigration. Over last ten years, their interest has gradually shifted into processing communal experience-defining social structures, considering cultural standards/norms and exploring foreignness as a condition that gives a new perspective to the familiar.

There will be a post-talk reception and artist meet-and-greet.

This program is in conjunction with the Ann Loeb Bronfman Gallery’s exhibition One Foot In America: The Work of Eugeen Van Mieghem which is on display from September 22 till December 30, 2011.

Off The Wall is supported in part by the Anne S. Reich Fine Arts Endowment in Memory of Daryl Reich Rubenstein.
