The Storyteller
7:30 pm | Aaron & Cecile Goldman Theater
Co-presented with DC Jazz Festival

Born and raised in Israel, Uri Gurvich won the Jazz Player of the Year competition in Israel before relocating to Boston to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music. He has played at jazz festivals and venues around the world and the US, including Lincoln Center and Blue Note. His quartet features Leo Genovese on piano, Peter Slavov on bass and Francisco Mela on drums, some of the most prominent voices on the contemporary New York jazz scene. The Quartet’s debut album The Storyteller (Tzadik Records) exploded onto the scene in February 2009 and places Israeli, Yemenite, East European and North African music into a progressive jazz context.

The Storyteller is a brilliantly auspicious debut by a major new voice in jazz.”All Music Guide
