Race & the Law: How Far Have We Come?

Civil Rights attorneys reflect on the social advancements achieved through the courts during the heyday of the Civil Rights Movement and the work still to be done, in a contemporary landscape.

Moderator:  Nan Aron, Founder and President of The Alliance for Justice

Panelists:

•     Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton, Congresswoman for the District of Columbia
•     Lynn French, an attorney who teaches the History of the Civil Rights Movement at University of Virginia, she is Executive Director of Hope and a Home
•     Jim Murphy, Civil Rights attorney
•     William L. Robinson, the Olie W. Rauh Professor of Law, founding Dean of the District of Columbia School of Law and the University of the District of Columbia School of Law, is an outstanding litigator, teacher, leader of the civil rights bar, and leader in the civil rights movement.
•     John C. Brittain is a tenured professor of law at the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law. Past Dean of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University and Chief Counsel and Senior Deputy Director of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law in Washington, DC.
