Jewish Community Center of Washington, DC

Exit West Pop-up Refugee Book Club

Date:
Tuesday, May 30, 2023
Time:
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

What: Join us for drinks and conversation as we take a deep dive into the story of two refugees fleeing war in Mohsin Hamid's Exit West over two meetings. We will meet for a halfway point discussion on Tuesday, May 30 and an end-of-book discussion on Thursday, June 22.

From The New York Times: "By mixing the real and the surreal, and using old fairy-tale magic, Hamid has created a fictional universe that captures the global perils percolating beneath today’s headlines, while at the same time painting an unnervingly dystopian portrait of what might lie down the road."

We encourage you to secure your copy of the book at Mahogany Books or another independent bookstore in the area.

When: We will meet on Tuesday, May 30 at 6:00 PM and Thursday, June 22 at 6:00 PM.

Where: Both meetings will be held in Dupont Circle. Location will be sent upon registration.

Registration: Participation is free but registration is required. Please click on the ticket icon or the "Sign Me Up" button in order to proceed to registration.
