This comic, heart-warming, and controversial Israeli show explores (re: pokes fun at) the cultural divide between Jewish Israelis and Arab Israelis. The show follows Amjad Alian, a Palestinian journalist and Israeli citizen who works for a Hebrew-language newspaper and wants to become a part of Israel's greater, diverse society. To that end, he has moved his family to the West Jerusalem Jewish neighborhood Rehavia, and a whole new world.

Arab Labor is ground-breaking, the first program to present Palestinian characters speaking Arabic on primetime television in Israel. Series creator Sayed Kashua plays on the religious, cultural, and political differences that come hand-in-hand with such a mixed population.  The title is a play on words in line with the the show; in Hebrew, "avodah aravit" also implies that a job is second-rate or shoddy.
