The Great Jewish Bake-Off & Dessert Exchange
Think you make the best babka? Love to eat rugelach? Enter our Jewish dessert bake-off or come taste test your favorites! We will have a dessert exchange and donate all extra sweets to D25: Day of Service so our community can enjoy these treats too. Drinks and appetizers will be served.
Cheftestants - Show off your culinary skills! Create a dessert in your own kitchen to enter into our competition, then bring your entry to our “Kitchen Stadium” for the Judges’ Panel. You can enter into one of four catergories, babka/cakes, holiday desserts, cookies/rugelach, Sephardic/Israeli. Dishes must be completed at home but can be warmed up in our microwave.* You may enter with a group/friends but please email us at Stacym@edcjcc.org to let us know if there is more than 1 chef attending the event so we can help you purchase the correct tickets. All cheftestants will recieve a swag bag for participating!
Be prepared to have samples available for 50-60 tasters. Two 9 X12 pans of cake/babka or 5 dozen small cookies should be about right. Please bring a list of all ingredients and label your pans with your name if you are not bringing something disposable.
Nosher - Not a cook? Bring your friends to taste each dessert, enjoy some beverages & light appetizers that compliment the food, participate in our dessert exchange, and vote for your favorite dessert.
