Instructor: Debra Sternberg

Learn to swing dance with Debra Sternberg, founder of Gottaswing, Washington, DC’s most popular swing dance company. You’ll learn the basic concepts of lead-and-follow dancing, the 6-count footwork pattern, and develop a vocabulary of moves that are easy to use on the social dance floor. You’ll also learn how to adapt our footwork to faster tempos of music, and take a daring foray into the world of Charleston.

Swing is one of the most versatile, basic patterns of partner dancing. You can swing dance to practically any music, from the original swing dance tunes of the late 1920s to contemporary rhythms. Swing music ranges from big band to jazz to rhythm and blues to rock and roll. You can dance it slow, dance it fast and you can even swing with your grandmother!

**No partner required**
