Matzo Ball Madness: Soup-Off
It’s almost March Madness and Passover time, a perfect reason to host our first Matzo Ball Soup-Off. Enter our matzo ball soup bracket competition and be voted DC Matzo Ball Soup champ in chicken, veggie, noodle, and unique categories! Not a top chef? Taste-test our competitors dishes with a side of challah and learn how to make the perfect matzo ball from Prescription Chicken’s founder Valerie Zweig.
Cheftestants - Show off your culinary skills! Create a soup dish in your own kitchen to enter into our competition, then bring your entry to our “Kitchen Stadium” for the Judges’ Panel. You can enter into one of four catergories, chicken, veggie, noodle, unique. Don't have time to cook everything? Our partners, Prescription Chicken, will are donating their chicken broth for you to use if you need it, just email Stacy at stacym@edcjcc.org and you can bring your other ingredients to the JCC on Monday and we can help you assemble everything.
Dishes must be completed at home but can be warmed on our stoves/microwaves, we suggest bringing a crock pot or a large plastic container.* You may enter with a group/friends but please email us at Stacym@edcjcc.org to let us know if there is more than 1 chef attending the event so we can help you purchase the correct tickets. All cheftestants will recieve a swag bag for participating!
Make enough soup for small tastes for 25 tasters. You can bring a big crockpot if you would like. Please bring a list of all ingredients and label your container with your name if you are not bringing something disposable - your dish must be Kosher-style or use Kosher meat.
