In 2006, after over a decade spent as President of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Professor Avishay Braverman entered politics, joining the Labor Party and then the coalition government of Prime Minister Binyamin Netenyahu as Minister of Minority Affairs. His portfolio deals with the economic, social and educational challenges of Israel’s Arab citizens; and is of-a-piece with his career focused on balancing economic development and social justice which included a stint at the World Bank. Professor Braverman, will share his perspective on the current realities regarding Jewish-Arab relations in Israel. Professor Braverman will also share his plans to promote equality for Israelis in his newly created post. Immediately following the presentation, Professor Braverman will engage participants in a question and answer session.
