The DCJCC offers five levels of conversational Hebrew, from learning the aleph bet to reading advanced literature. Our teachers Naomi and Lorit are native Hebrew speakers with many years of teaching experience. They regularly tweak their classes to fit the needs and interests of thier students.
Classes are offered on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in eight-week sessions. Each class is one hour. Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4 require the textbook Hebrew From Scratch (Part 1), which you can purchase at the time of registration.

Tuesdays, August 19- October 28*
Level 2A: 7pm-8pm
Wednesdays, August 20- October 29*
Level 1: 6pm-7pm
Level 2B: 7pm-8m
Level 3: 8pm-9pm
Level 4: 7pm-8pm
Level 5: 8pm-9pm
*There will be no class September 23/24, October 7/8, or October 15/16 in honor of Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot. Please note that to accomodate the holidays class has been extended to October 28/29.

Level 1: Beginners! This is the class for you if you need to learn the aleph bet (Hebrew alphabet) and some basic vocabulary.
6:00pm - 7:00pm

Level 2A: Students who have completed Level 1 OR know the aleph bet and can read but have little to no vocabulary and knowledge of grammar
TUESDAY 7:00pm - 8:00pm

depending on registrations Levels 2A & 2B may be combined in the Wednesday timeslot- you will be notified via email if this will happen
Level 2B: Students who have completed Level 2A OR have a limited vocabulary and a basic grasp of grammar

Level 3: This level focuses on building vocabulary, improving reading, and conducting conversation in present tense. Students also begin to explore verb conjugation in the past tense.
8:00pm - 9:00pm

Level 4: Students work on reading comprehension with texts, stories, and newspaper headlines, as well as grammar exercises, verb conjugation in the past tense, and start the future tense. You'll be conversing with all three tenses too!
7:00pm - 8:00pm
Teacher: Lorit Chai
Level 5: You're ready for the deep end! Read newspaper articles and short stories from Hebrew literature and discuss current events and cultural issues in Hebrew.
8:00pm - 9:00pm
