What is Arcadia? It is a 501C3 dedicated to creating a more equitable , sustainable food system. It starts at our two farms -- Hunger Run in Middleburg and learning farm at Woodlawn Pope-Leighy. We harvest that food and load it up on our Mobile Market -- we are launching a second market this summer -- and take it to 10 low-food access neighborhoods (food deserts) where we set up our rolling farm stand. Our food is first quality, about 30 - 50 percent less than a DC farmers market, all local and sustainably grown, supports a complete diet, and we double the value of food stamps -- $10 on an EBT card gets our customers $20 in fresh healthy food. We sell to anyone, but we especially serve low-income neighborhoods where there is a dearth of healthy for and where consequently there is a spike in chronic, nutrition related diseases.
