Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Nick Kotz tells the sweeping and personal story of one family and the pioneer rancher, Nathan Kallison, who helped develop modern Texas. A Russian immigrant in the 1890’s, Kallison, Kotz’s grandfather, eventually settled in San Antonio, where he turned his one-room saddlery into the largest farm and ranch supply business in the Southwest.
